When we started this COVID-19 Infographic Project there were few resources that we’re combining all of the most relevant data for all of the states, and our thought was to provide a resource that would help bring together the information as a public service to the community at large and most specifically businesses leaders. At that time, we were all asking questions about the state of our supply chains in various areas, forecasting business interruptions, and protecting their employees and families.

We hope in a small way we helped contribute to your understanding of the environment during some of the most uncertain times. If you look back on some of our earliest postings on the data, you can see a foreshadowing of what sadly to come for many of the hot spot areas which correlated directly with decisions made to open areas of their economy much faster that was being recommended by public health guidelines.

While the virus is still amongst us and indeed continuing to suffer devasting blows to our families, employees and businesses, teams of data scientists working with public health professionals, universities, non-profits and large business across the country have now developed multiple resources that can best prepare business leaders to assess the health environment in areas where their business activities occur.

While other countries have implemented nationwide directives to slow the spread of the virus, the approach of the US is at present a patchwork of city, county, state, and regional guidance that is often inconsistent. Therefore, it is most important that leaders make decisions on how to best protect their businesses, employees, and families by reviewing the appropriate level of data at various municipal, state, regional and national levels.

The proliferation of interactive websites that professionals have created to provide objective data speaks volumes about humanity’s capability to come together in a crisis and focus our collective efforts. National sites that we recommend your regular review include:

• Georgia Tech – COVID-19 Event Risk Assessment Planning Tool – provides insight into risk levels with different gatherings.
• Johns Hopkins – COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (JHU) statewide and international data on case levels
• NY Times – Coronavirus in the U.S. Latest Map and Case Count – current state directions

Dots on the timeline indicate key events in each state – closings (in red), openings (in green), and other policy changes and events (in grey).
